Floor plans for heat pump surveys: when they’re needed
Floor plans aren’t always required, but when they are, they remove ambiguity and make room-by-room context easier to use.
A good plan turns measurements into something a designer and installer can navigate without a second site visit.
When floor plans help most
- When room-by-room context is needed (scope-dependent)
- When properties are complex (extensions, split levels, unusual layouts)
- When “what room is that?” would otherwise become a follow-up chain
What a useful plan includes
- Clear room labels that match the pack
- Dimensions captured for the booked scope
- Notes where constraints affect install planning (access, routing, plant locations)
How it supports a cleaner handoff
- Less back-and-forth during design
- Easier to explain decisions to homeowners
- Fewer surprises when the install starts
