Solar survey reports for UK installers

Roof measurements, access, shading, electrical evidence, inverter routes and battery-ready checks, captured before the design or installation plan is finalised.

Vertex works as the survey arm of installer teams. You keep the customer relationship and design control; we complete the visit, check the evidence and deliver the report through the portal.

What a Vertex solar survey includes

The scope is agreed before the visit. The report then gives the installer a structured record of the roof, site access and electrical details needed for quoting and design review.

Roof and layout

Measurements with the obstructions left in

  • Roof planes, covering, pitch and orientation context
  • Chimneys, rooflights, vents and other usable-area constraints
  • Shading observations and access notes
  • Photos tied to the relevant part of the report
Electrical

The intake and route, not just the roof

  • Meter, cut-out and consumer-unit evidence where in scope
  • Likely inverter position and cable-route context
  • Existing generation or storage noted when visible
  • Potential constraints highlighted for installer review
Installation

Practical detail for the next team

  • Access, working-area and equipment-position notes
  • Battery location context when included in the booking
  • Questions and assumptions kept visible
  • One report for quote, design and installation planning

A Vertex survey records visible site evidence to the agreed scope. It does not replace a structural engineer's assessment where calculations or formal structural confirmation are required.

Book and follow the job in one place

Installer teams can book Solar PV work alongside heat-pump, battery and heat-loss surveys. The postcode, preferred date and scope stay with the job from booking through to delivery.

  • Choose Solar PV when the booking is raised
  • Track scheduled, in-progress and ready jobs
  • Keep reports and supporting evidence with the job record
  • Use the web portal or Vertex apps across desktop and mobile

A clear route from postcode to handover

The process is built for installer teams that need more capacity without giving up control of the job.

01 · Agree

Confirm the property and scope

Send the postcode, roof type and required solar, battery or electrical scope. We confirm coverage, lead time and price before the visit is booked.

02 · Capture

Complete the site visit

The surveyor follows the agreed capture route in the Vertex app, with required fields and photo prompts matched to the job.

03 · Check

Review before issue

Automated checks flag missing or inconsistent entries for review. The completed report is then issued through the portal for the installer team.

A roof photograph is not a complete survey

The layout decision also depends on scale, orientation, shading, obstructions, access and the route back to the electrical intake. Vertex keeps those details together instead of sending the office an unlabelled photo folder.

Solar panels and roof details considered during a site survey

One site record for quote, design and installation

On a completed domestic solar job, the installer needed roof constraints, electrical evidence and cable-route context in one place before the proposed layout moved forward.

Quote

Constraints visible early

The office could see the roof and access context without asking the customer for another set of photographs.

Design

Assumptions could be checked

The designer had the roof faces, obstructions and electrical route in the same report before confirming the layout.

Installation

The route stayed with the job

Access and cable-route notes remained available when the work moved from design into the installation diary.

National coverage with scope agreed first

Vertex supports one-off and repeat solar work across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every booking is checked against the postcode and requested deliverables before a date is promised.

Pricing

Solar surveys from £200

The final price depends on location, property size, roof complexity and whether battery or additional electrical evidence is included.

Capacity

Use us where your diary needs help

Book a single survey, cover an unfamiliar postcode or use Vertex as a regular extension of your survey team.

Control

Your installer account stays in charge

The report is delivered to your team. Vertex does not quote for or install the solar system, and does not take over the customer relationship.

Before you book a solar survey

Send the postcode, property type, known roof details and the evidence your team needs. Tell us whether battery, electrical or additional access information is in scope. We will confirm the price and lead time before booking.

Guide pricing starts from £200. Location, roof complexity, property size and any battery or additional electrical scope can change the final price.

Many domestic visits take around one to two hours. Larger properties, multiple roof areas, difficult access or combined solar and battery scope can take longer.

The standard survey records visible roof construction, condition and access evidence to the agreed scope. Formal structural calculations or an engineer's assessment must be commissioned separately where required.

Yes. Battery location, access and relevant electrical context can be added to the booking. Confirm the required storage scope when requesting the price.

Vertex provides solar surveys throughout the UK. Availability and travel are checked against the property postcode before the appointment is confirmed.
