One set of documented facts
Every installer designs against the same MIS 3005-D heat loss and the same documented assumptions. Price differences reflect product, design and workmanship — not different guesses about your property.
Commission your own MIS 3005-D heat loss or full ASHP survey. Independent, MCS-aligned, usable by any installer — so every quote comes back on the same documented facts.
Elmhurst Energy registered · MIS 3005-D + MCS 020(a) · 25,000+ heat loss calculations across the founder's career · UK-wide, next-day heat loss delivery.
Not sure which you need? Send a few details and we'll tell you whether a full survey, a heat loss calc from site data, or a desktop calc from drawings makes sense for your property — before you book.
Most homeowners let every installer run their own separate survey. That produces different heat loss numbers, different emitter strategies, different cylinder assumptions — and quotes that can't be compared. Independent evidence fixes that.

An independent, properly documented heat loss reduces the risk of a wrongly sized heat pump or undersized emitters. The sizing conversation starts from evidence, not optimism.
With the heat loss already done, installer conversations are about the system design — flow temps, emitter strategy, cylinder, controls — not about what your property's baseline is.
You don't need to guess which is right. Tell us about your property and we'll tell you which option actually makes sense before anything is booked.
On-site visit covering fabric, emitters, cylinder and plant-room space, electrical supply, external unit siting, sound assessment to MCS 020(a). Full photo pack and notes for installer handoff.
Best for: older properties, unclear fabric, extensions, plant-room constraints, or anyone who wants the fullest possible evidence.
Room-by-room MIS 3005-D heat loss — from site data or from drawings. All assumptions documented, every input made visible, ready for any MCS installer to design from.
Best for: homeowners who specifically want the heat loss number and documented inputs, without a full system survey.
Full ASHP site survey plus the MIS 3005-D heat loss calculation together. The most complete evidence pack — and £50 cheaper than booking the two separately.
Best for: homeowners committing to a heat pump and wanting the strongest possible footing for comparing installer quotes.
Postcode, rough size, age, current heating. If you have an EPC or floor plans, send them. We recommend the option that actually fits and confirm final pricing before anything is booked.
Either an on-site visit (typically booked within a week) or a desktop heat loss from your drawings. Clear scope, nothing hidden, no pressure to upgrade.
Your MIS 3005-D heat loss and/or full survey pack delivered through the Vertex Portal. Share the link with every installer you're getting quotes from — they all work from the same documented facts.
The output is built for installer handoff. Share it as freely as you like — every quote comes back off the same evidence.
No need to re-send PDFs. Installers open the pack through the Portal and see the same inputs, assumptions, and room-by-room numbers you do.
Differences in price reflect design choices (flow temperature strategy, emitter upgrades, cylinder size, controls) — not different guesses about your property's heat demand.
You choose based on product, design approach, and the installer's track record — with evidence that doesn't change every time a new quote arrives.
Yes. You don't need to go through an installer. Commission a heat loss calculation or full ASHP survey directly — we deliver it through the Portal and you share it with whichever installers you're getting quotes from.
You still can — many homeowners do. The advantage of an independent pack is that every installer quotes off the same evidence. That makes quotes comparable, reduces the risk of sizing errors, and means the conversation with each installer is about the solution rather than the inputs.
Heat loss calculation: £150. ASHP survey: £250. Bundle (survey + heat loss): £350 — saves £50 vs booking separately. Larger properties have small uplifts (200–300m²: +£100; 300–400m²: +£200) that are confirmed before you book. Full pricing.
A site visit gives the strongest inputs and is usually the better option for older properties, unclear fabric, or where plant-room space is a design constraint. A desktop heat loss from drawings works well when the fabric is documented and you have complete floor plans and measurements. We'll tell you which actually fits before booking.
Yes. The output is produced to MIS 3005-D and CIBSE guidelines — the standards MCS installers work to. Any MCS-registered installer can design from it. A small number of installers prefer to re-run their own heat loss for sign-off reasons; even then, your pack is useful as a reference and any major disagreement is worth understanding before you commit.
Heat loss calculations: next working day after inputs are confirmed. ASHP site surveys: typically booked within a week, with the pack following shortly after the visit. Everything is delivered through the Vertex Portal.
No. We're deliberately independent of installers — no referrals, no kickbacks, no lead selling. It keeps the numbers honest. We will happily explain what to look for in an installer and how to read their quote against our pack.
